Denman team unfazed by Guineas delay

The extra week's wait for the running of the Australian Guineas due to the fierce hail storm at Flemington last Saturday hasn't diminished the confidence of the Peter Snowden stable with odds-on favourite Denman.

Snowden's son and Melbourne stable foreman Paul Snowden said the postponement of the Group One 1600m feature just meant a matter of holding the Lonhro colt at where he was last Saturday.

"T...

Hyland upbeat over Zarita's chances

Trainer Pat Hyland says top mare Zarita only has to reproduce her run of a year ago to win the Australian Cup.

Hyland is excited about the five-year-old's chance at Flemington on Saturday after she finished a close a fourth to Niconero in the 2009 Cup.

"If she ran up to last year I think she would knock them off," he said on Wednesday.

"I don't think these horses are as good at weight-for-age as last...

Rock Classic set for duel with Denman

Bart Cummings doesn't rate Rock Classic as highly as his stablemate So You Think but he does believe he's good enough to give Denman a run for his money in the Australian Guineas.

The trainer aborted Cox Plate winner So You Think's autumn campaign before it began, robbing Saturday's race of a clash between the two stars.

The Peter Snowden-trained Denman has dominated betting since the release of fir...
