Alan Bailey stable says it's time

Thursday 11 March 2010
By Glenn Davis

A moderate Friday meeting at Eagle Farm could shape the Brisbane winter carnival plans for several runners from the Alan Bailey stable.

The Gold Coast trainer has four runners entered on the rain-affected track with Top Brass (Good Guys Maiden), Rocket To Rio (Lyndhurst Stud Maiden), Andsosayallofus (Channel 7 Hcp) and Rokatoko in the Urban Brisbane Handicap (1200m).

Bailey has a good opinion of Andsosayallofus and Rokatoko and rates the pair the stable's best chances.

"They've all got to show up now if they're going to go towards the winter races which are a lot harder," Bailey said.

"Andsosayallofus is probably my best chance as she hasn't done a thing wrong in her two wins and she's won on a heavy track.

"I don't know how the others will go if the track stays heavy."

Bailey is hopeful Andsosayallofus, a daughter of General Nediym, may emerge as a Queensland Guineas (1600m) hope during the winter.

"There's plenty of races for her during the carnival and she's got good scope so hopefully she'll run 1600 metres," Bailey said.

"She's been in work a while and has trialled well twice."

Andsosayallofus hasn't raced since an impressive win over 1100 metres at Ipswich on June 13 last year.

Bailey is also keen to head towards the winter with Rokatoko who hasn't started since finishing second in three-year-old grade at Doomben on October 31.

Rokatoko, who has started only three times, impressed Bailey greatly when he scored a five-length win at Doomben on debut.

Rokatoko was bred at Westminster Stud in NSW but didn't go through the sale ring as a yearling before he was sent to Bailey at the Gold Coast.

Bailey took an instant liking to Rokatoko as he trained the gelding's mother Crestfallen who was a good performer on the racetrack, winning seven times.

Crestfallen was placed four times at Listed level and was runner-up to Bonanova in the Group Three Winter Stakes (1500m) at Eagle Farm in 2000.

Bailey also rates Top Brass highly and was full of praise for the colt's last-start seventh to Hidden Kisses at Eagle Farm last month.

"Three times he got taken out in the race and it was a good effort under the circumstances," he said.

"He's a nice horse but if he doesn't mend some of his ways we may have to geld him."
