This fellow can handle all types of track conditions and he destroyed his 3YO rivals in the Matamata mud on May 11. The son of Magic Ring has also been up since late last October but hasn't been over raced, experiencing a reasonable break between raceday exertions. He's been pretty consistent too and first came to my attention when he won an R70 affair at Ellerslie on Auckland Cup day, March 5. He followed up with a trio of useful efforts and then completed the aforementioned victory. |

Inconsistent daughter of Casual Lies who impressed me with success on her home track on May 3 which allowed her into the spotlight for this week. She's been up since last winter but has been sparingly raced and is showing signs that she may indeed prefer winter footing. She cleared maidens at Te Awamutu last November albeit by just a nose. But we had to wait till the aforementioned performance before she would visit the winner's circle again. Follow her on conditions slow or worse in the coming weeks and we'll see where that leads us. |

Ultra consistent galloper. In fact, the son of Zorro's Lad has only one blemish against his name. Apart from that single ordinary effort, he's returned punters a dividend following his seven other starts. The son of Zorro's Lad cleared maidens at Tauranga on January 2. After a let-up he clocked up a brace of wins on the first day of the two-day Wairoa meeting in February. He ran third in the same grade on day two. He then made a good fist of his first run beyond 1850m when running second to Vanderbeel over 2000m at Matamata in late April. |

This mare hasn't been the most consistent horse on the northern circuit but there was a lot to like about her most recent winning performance. She's been kept in work for quite some time although sparingly raced throughout. The daughter of Keeper chalked up an R80 success at Te Rapa in mid-spring but didn't produce another dividend for punters till running third at Thames. Another failure followed which brought us to her latest effort where she stormed home to bury her rivals in the hands of Grant Cooksley at Tauranga on April 19. |

Lightly raced son of Cape Cross who looks likely to do his sire justice on the racetrack. He made a winning debut in a Ruakaka maiden event at the end of August last year. He then made one further appearance in his initial campaign where he filled third position in an R70 race at Gisborne. A six month spell ensued to allow him to grow and mature further. The break appeared to have worked the oracle as he looked better than even when succeeding fresh up at Hastings. He backed up by finishing a close up third behind talented duo Bow Lane and Crossyourheart. |

This bloke hadn't experienced the best of runs in transit during his first two efforts this preparation. So it was no surprise to see him greet the judge at the third time of asking. The son of Cape Cross had run fourth fresh up in R80 class at Ellerslie on the final day of the Auckland Cup carnival and looked a definite improver. He was expected to be hard to bowl second up given he also dropped a class. However, misfortune intervened and sixth was the best he could muster. He then narrowly won up an R80 event at Te Aroha; returning surprising odds around the 9/1 mark. |

Staying will obviously be the forte of this daughter of Zabeel so I'm just sitting here waiting for her to step up over ground. And I shouldn't have to wait too long given she ran a nice second over 1600m at Ellerslie on March 29. Prior to this she experienced three preparatory runs prior to clearing maidens in the hands of Gavin McKeon at Tauranga on March 22. Look out for her when she steps up over 2000m and beyond. I have a feeling she could fill our pockets before the tracks deteriorate. |

This consistent filly looks all class and she's yet to finish out of the money on raceday. The sprinting daughter of Don Eduardo finished runner up in age group company fresh up this preparation and then nailed an R80 victory second up at Ellerslie in mid February. She returned to Ellerslie and ran third in similar company on Auckland Cup day. She then defeated a small but select group of R90 animals rather impressively at Tauranga on March 22 and looks destined for higher honours. |

This young bloke has been in in dynamic form during his brief career and I expect him to maintain his condition in the immediate future. The son of Bertolini made his debut at Trentham on January 21 and he easily accounted for an ordinary line up in the hands of Hayden Tinsley. Bruce Herd hopped aboard for his second up run but he found the Grp 3 company a trifle rich and fifth was the best he could manage. With Tinsley back on board the combination engaged in a home duel with Tavistock before proving too strong in the final 100m at Trentham in mid-March.. |

This consistent filly is due another winning turn soon following some excellent, game performances over the late summer period. The daughter of Pins opened her account with a win at Ellerslie in mid-January. She followed up with a solid effort to grab third prize behind Vincent Mangano in a listed race at Ellerslie. And she ran well again to secure third spot in the Grp 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes on February 23. Arguably her best effort occurred when she only just succumbed to Fully Fledged in a Group 1 event; again on Auckland's premier track |
