When you take a maiden to Newcastle, you'd like to think you'd be taking on lesser opposition, so rival trainers would not have been thrilled to be lining up on Saturday against the half-sisters to Group I stars Melito and Casino Prince, reports Tara Madgwick of www.breednet.com.au.

Her report says: Paul Messara sent out three year-old Hussonet (USA) filly Secluded, a half-sister to dual Group I winner and $1.9 million earner Melito in the 1200 metre maiden and she duly scored by half a length at her second start.

A $525,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Reavill Farm draft, Secluded is the sixth winner from six foals to race for stakes-winning Marauding mare Cloister, who was passed in shy of her $700,000 reserve at the recent Inglis Broodmare Sale in Sydney.

Also breaking her maiden at her second start was the Anthony Cummings trained Testa Rossa filly Lady Paget, who took the 1400 metre maiden by a length and a half.

A homebred for Gerry Harvey, Lady Paget is the seventh winner from seven foals to race for remarkable producer Lady Capel, whose offspring are headed by Group I winner and sire Casino Prince, plus stakes-winners Tagus, Lord of the Land and Metallurgical.
