Toorak Toff $7.50 wins for PPD Club's Daily Specials followers

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Posted @ 1:53 pm

Another stunning big-race tipping triumph for PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Saturday. He landed TOORAK TOFF $7.50/$2.60 for the Daily Specials section. Toorak Toff was also a winner for our Video View service (only 2 tips for the day). BB came close to another major success - his headlined longshot special was THE JOKER 2nd place $4.70 at Doomben. Here's how he advised our members to back Toorak Toff:

Up to a suitable 1400m, and very fit, (5) Toorak Toff 9/2 looks as good as any other runner in race 6, the Golden Rose 1400m (3YOs, Grp 1) at Rosehill. Rick Hore-Lacy produced the Show A Heart colt for an impressive first-up win over Soul in the 1100m Vain Stks at Caulfield on Aug 14. The distance wasn't ideal but Toorak Toff showed speed and late-race penetration to storm down the outside to score. He's been to Sydney before and had no luck when 4th in the Sires 1400m at Grp 1 at Randwick on Apr 10, btn a half length. Make no mistake, Toorak Toff is a quality type. I think he'll unleash a winning finale.

More Daily Specials winners...Setgo $6.50, Kid Kapone $4.80, plus $29 and $16.60 exactas

Posted @ 4:29 pm

More tremendous winning strikes by the PPD Club's form analysts! On Thursday, the sole longshot bet for the day was SETGO 1st $6.50/$2.40 and for good measure tipster Martin Dowling named Braviano 2nd as the danger to land a $29.00 exacta and $12.70 quinella. On Friday, Club editor Brian Blackwell hit with TOO DEADLY $1.50 in the opening race at Geelong and then struck with a terrific $16.60 exacta of KID KAPONE $4.80 and RESOLVERE 2nd $3.00 in race 8. Here's what PPD Club members were told about Setgo:

Fresh from a break since Boxing Day last year, (5) Setgo 8/1 appeals as an eachway special for race 3, a Mdn hdcp c&g 1000m at Gosford on Thursday. Setgo, trained by Mark de Montfort, finished 4th/12 at the Gold Cst 900m Mdn on Dec 26 and that followed the 5YO's 6th/9 at Hawkesbury 1000m Mdn on Dec 2. He's a speedy type who's had 4 runs at 1000m/1100m for two placings. Both were achieved at first-up outings. Today he has gate #3 so should be able to get into a nice slot all the way. The Guy Walter trained (2) Braviano 7/2 looks the main danger despite drawing wide.

Amapola $3.90, Lotsahula $2.00 win...and Diva Dance 3rd $7.80 on Tuesday

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Posted @ 8:02 pm

Yet another good day for PPD Club members on Tuesday...Our sole longshot tip was DIVA DANCE 3rd $7.80/$2.90 with the 'danger' tip being the winner AMAPOLA $3.90. There were 2 Daily Specials for one winner, LOTSAHULA $2.00. Our ImpactPro ratings assessed 2 races at Hawkesbury for winners with the top-rated GRAND RHUMBA $4.20 and MUTAWARATH $5.30. At Geelong, 4 races were assessed for 3 winners, DEAR PRUDENCE $3.40, SPONTANEOUS $3.10 and FINISHING CARD $1.80.

From 25/1 into 7/2 ($4.60)...Daily Specials tip Celestial Trump scores on Sunday

Sunday, August 22, 2010

Posted @ 11:55 pm

From 16/1 to 25/1 overnight to 7/2 SP! That's how it was for PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell's great tip for CELESTIAL TRUMP 1st $4.60 at Casterton on Sunday. BB alerted our members to Celestial Trump in his Daily Specials section - just one or two hot bets every day. On Saturday, he scored with GHOSTMILK $3.80. Here's what he told members about Celestial Trump:

Good mud form, smart at the distance, and nice runs at recent starts...There are enough positives to indicate a big effort at long odds from veteran mare (10) Celestial Trump 16/1 in race 6, an RB68 hdcp 2000m at Casterton on Sunday. The Wayne Walters trained 8YO ran 5th/9 in a 2500m Open hdcp at M'ville on July 31. Before that she was 6th/11 at Sandown-L 2400m on July 21, btn only 3.9 lens behind the useful Rubinacci. I think she's a better conveyance over today's trip. There are no worries about the heavy track - she's won two and been placed in three on heavy.

Another longshot winner...Etoile Rouge $11.70 wins for PPD Club

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Posted @ 1:59 pm

Another brilliant longshot winner from PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Tuesday...ETOILE ROUGE $11.70/$3.40 at Sale! Here's how BB advised our members to back this great winner, which was his ONLY longshot tip for the day:

Geelong mare (19) Etoile Rouge 9/1 did enough last start to convince me she's a genuine chance in race 2, as Mdn Plate (f&m) 1205m at Sale on Tuesday. The Delzao 4Yo raced back and in the ruck to the turn in a 1300m Mdn at Geelong-S on July 23. She kept going well under pressure to finish 5th/12, btn 3.4 lens. That was her secong start after a spell from Mar 13 to July 12. I think she's ready for her breakthrough performance.

BB strikes again...One race assessed, 1st and 2nd, $12.70 exacta!

Saturday, August 14, 2010

Posted @ 11:06 am

Yet another superb 1st/2nd strike by PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Friday. His sole selections for the day were SCHRAPNEL GULLY 1st $4.20 and NOTHING BY HALF 2nd $1.60 in the same race at Geelong, landing a $12.70 exacta and $6.30 quinella for a total $3 bet. BB has been in great form this year. If you're not already a member of the PPD Club then join up...It costs only $1.20 a day!

Two tips, one winner...NEED TO SHOW $6.20 scores for us on Thursday

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Posted @ 11:49 pm

Another great winner for our Daily Specials section on Thursday! Two tips for one winner, NEED TO SHOW $6.20 at Canberra, and a close 3rd placegetter Mo Jay Vee $1.70. Here's what our tipster Martin Dowling advised our members about Need To Show:

After a couple of strong efforts last month, locally trained (4) Need To Show 5/2 looks the prime chance for race 1, a Mdn Plate 1750m at Canberra (Acton surface) on Thursday. He rated very well when 4th/7 at Kembla Grange 2000m Mdn on Jul7 17. he was beaten only 1.9 lengths and gave the winner 3kgs. He then ran 1.3 lengths 4th/12 at Canberra 1850m in BM45 class on July 30. Those performances are good enough to say that he can prove competitive in today's Maiden ranks. The distance suits, he's got a top rider (Jeff Penza) aboard and he has home track advantage.

Another Daily Specials winner...Mr O'Postrophe $5.70 wins on Monday

Monday, August 9, 2010

Posted @ 9:57 pm

BB strikes again! The PPD Club's editor Brian Blackwell nailed another fine winner in his popular Daily Specials section on Monday - MR O'POSTROPHE $5.70 at Swan Hill. And here's how he advised our members to back this very easy winner:

It was agonising to watch (4) Mr O'Postrophe 6/1 beaten last start when he had our money on him, but he gets his chance to bounce back in race 5, a Mdn Plate 2100m at Swan Hill on Monday. The 5YO travelled last to near the turn in a Mdn 1600m at Swan Hill on July 26 and rider Nikita Beriman moved him forward on the inner entering the straight but that's when her troubles began. Mr O'Postrophe was completely blocked for a clear run and in desperation Beriman switched him across heels inside the final 100m - but it was all too late. The birds had flown and Mr O'Postrophe wound up 6th/13, btn 3 lens. Believe me, that margin doesn't tell the real story! Today, the Encosta de Lago gelding is upped to 2100m, a bold move by connections, but I fancy he's going to relish the extra distance. There's a change of rider to Matt Pumpa.

Galatian $11.20 lands BIG win for PPD Club's international service

Monday, August 9, 2010

Posted @ 1:00 pm

The PPD Club's UK international service struck with a great winner on Sunday night..GALATIAN $11.20 at the Leicester meeting. It was expert Adrian Middleton's only tip for the Leicester card. The win followed another excellent day for our Daily Specials on Saturday when Club editor Brian Blackwell landed 2 winners from 3 selections - HOLLOWLEA $3.40 and ELUSIVE TOUCH $3.80. Our systems expert Statsman struck with his one-bet special OUR CANNAVARO $4.70.

Another longshot winner for PPD Club...Blackgold $7.70 wins at Sale

Saturday, August 7, 2010

Posted @ 12:17 am

Once again, the PPD Club's Brian Blackwell has come up with a terrific winning longshot tip...This time it was BLACKGOLD $7.70/$2.60 at Sale on Thursday. On Friday, BB landed 2 winners from 2 assessed races for our Daily Specials sections. His bracket-bets were BROADCAST 1st $1.90 and Fatherson 3rd $6.10/$2.00 at Geelong, and AUSPICIOUS 1st $2.50 and Counting Albert 3rd $7.30/$2.10 at Scone. Here's how BB advised our members to back Blackgold:

Second-up from a break of almost 9 months, (2) Blackgold 8/1 looks ideally suited at eachway odds in race 3, a Mdn Plate 1406m at Sale on Thursday. I noted the Tale of the Cat 4YO steaming home wide out for 5th/12 to the smart El Stupendo in a Mdn 1300m at Geelong-S on July 23. He was near last all the way to the turn, went wide and tracked the winner into the straight. El Stupendo nipped away from him but Blackgold, once balanced up, was going strongly and picking up ground in the final 75m. He was 2.8 lens behind the winner. He should now be ready for the 1406m trip on the spacious Sale circuit.

We strike again with The Slew $3.50 & Shout Out Loud $9.00 at Darwin

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Posted @ 12:08 pm

A fantastic day for PPD Club members on Monday. Operating only on the Darwin meeting, our tipster Martin Dowling assessed 2 races and nailed 1st and 2nd with THE SLEW $3.50 and $6.00 chance MANANMI in race 6 (quinella $11.90 and exacta $25.10) then gave 2 selections in the Darwin Cup and got the winner SHOUT OUT LOUD $9.00. You can't beat the PPD Club for big-race winners! Here's what Martin told our members about The Slew:

Consistency is always appealing and it's the consistency of (2) The Slew 3/1 that seems to give him an edge in race 6, an RB67 hdcp 1900m at Darwin on Monday. The local 6YO won first-up off a break of 4 months at Darwin 1300m on May 29. He had 35 days off before running 3rd/12 there over 1600m on July 3. A break of 21 days followed and he then was a close 2nd/11 at Darwin 1600m on July 24. Trainer Stephen Brown is lifting him to the 1900m trip and it should prove ideal. The danger? Maybe Neil Dyer's 4YO (5) Mananmi 7/1, a last start 2nd/7 at Darwin 1600m on July 28.

Shoot Out $6.50 on Saturday - and now BB nabs Bellamo $6.40 on Sunday

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Posted @ 11:30 pm

Another superb winning tip from PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Sunday. Following up from his KO blow with SHOOTOUT $6.50 on Saturday, BB gave 2 tips for one winner, BELLAMO $6.40/$2.50 at Warrnambool. And here's exactly what he told our members about Bellamo:

A bold effort in higher class last start should mean that (9) Bellamo 9/2 is a top chance in race 7, an RB68 hdcp 2000m at Warrnambool on Sunday. The Blevic 6YO mare ran a game race to finish 4th/11 to the smart Rubinacci in RB89 class at Sandown Lakeside 2400m on July 21. She was btn only 1.8 lens and was still closing nicely in the final few strides. That run followed her 4th/12 at the same track over 2100m on July 7, btn 3.3 lens, again behind Rubinacci. Ricky Bruhn is switching her back 400m on her latest run but that doesn't concern me. Bellamo will relish the heavy conditions and she goes into the race fit and in-form. Plus, she's back from 89 (city) to 68 class.

BB does it again..He tips Shoot Out 1st $6.50 in Bletchingly

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Posted @ 10:13 am

BB's done it again! It was another brilliant big-race tipping strike by PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell when SHOOTOUT $6.50 won the Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday. BB, who has specialised in big-race winners since the PPD Club was launched 15 years ago, was confident Shoot Out could torpedo the doubters and win the big race. This is what he told our members on Saturday morning:

The all-important 'spring' campaign begins for Queensland star (8) Shoot Out 7/2 in race 6, the Bletchingly Stakes (1200m, wfa, Grp 3) at Caulfield on Saturday and I'm confident he'll fire the first winning shot. Shoot Out, with 5 wins and two 2nds from 11 starts, has already proven himself a galloper of extraordinary ability. He waltzed away with the AJC Derby 2400m at Grp 1 level at Randwick on Apr 10 and two runs before that scored in the Randwick Guineas 1600m on Mar 13. In between he was an unlucky 4th/9 in ther Rosehill Guineas. He's a winner first-up and over 1200m. He will finish powerfully and, I think, too well for his speedy sprint rivals.

2 great Friday winners...Private Label $8.10 and Sundance Kid $3.80!

Friday, July 30, 2010

Posted @ 11:53 pm

Two great winners from 3 selections for PPD Club members on Friday. Our Daily Specials winners were SUNDANCE KID $3.80 at Canberra and PRIVATE LABEL $8.10 at Warwick Farm. Our ImpactPro ratings were also in fine form with 5 winners - REGAL BANTER $3.90, FORAGRAND $5.30, HUMBLEPIE MAGIC $4.30, WONG STAR $3.20, ETOILE VITESSE $4.40. Here's how members were advised to back Sundance Kid:

Good at track and trip and down in class...These are the main factors that suggest (1) Sundance Kid 3/1 is the prime prospect for race 6, a BM50 hdcp (c&g) 1080m at Canberra Acton on Friday. The locally trained 4YO has had 2 runs from a spell, finishing a close 2nd/12 in Cl 2 at Canberra 1080m on July 11 and then running 7th/12 in BM65 1080m on July 23. In this latter race he found trouble in the straight and couldn't get a clear run in the final stages. He was only 2.2 lengths from the winner. He's now down to BM50 class and will carry 57.5kgs after the claim.

Another BIG winner...Trescorpioni $9.10 wins for PPD Club members

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Posted @ 7:09 pm

Another big longshot winner for PPD Club members on Sunday - and Club chief Brian Blackwell came within a nose of making it two winners from two tips! His big winner was TRESCORPIONI$ 9.10/$3.20 in the Sawtell Cup at Coffs Harbour. His near-miss tip was REDEVELOP (2nd) $9.40/$3.30 at Cranbourne. Here's what he advised our members about Trescorpioni:

A nice weight drop after a luckless run last start should mean that (4) Trescorpioni 12/1 has bright prospects of a form turnaround in race 7, the Sawtell Cup 1509m at Coffs Harbour. Bernie Howlett's 5YO was ridden well back in the field from a wide gate before finishing 8th/13 in the Maclean Cup at Grafton 1400m on July 18. His rider Jasen Watkins had trouble securing 'daylight' in the straight and Trescorpioni was continually steadied off heels, winding up 4 lens from the winner Clan McClymont. It was a really good run given the circumstances. Today, he has only 52kgs to carry after the claim for his apprentice rider. The 1509m trip should be ideal.

BB lands Pinwheel $3.30 in Ramornie...and our HK and UK tipsters strike

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Posted @ 11:41 am

Yet another big-race winner for PPD Club expert Brian Blackwell on Wednesday. He handed out the strong tip for Ramornie winner PINWHEEL $3.30. Our Hong Kong tipster Sir Conduit wound up a successful season with his final selection KENOBE $4.10 at Happy Valley, and our UK man Adrian Middleton hit with JET AWAY $2.60 at Lingfield. BB came close to making it 3 from 3 for the day with tips for close 2nd placegetters EGO $3.90/$2.10 andSTREAKY FELLA $2.70/$1.30. Both were being hailed winners only to be cut down in the final stride. Here's how BB advised members to back Pin Wheel:

Peter Snowden deserves praise for openly backing embattled Danny Nikolic by giving him the plum ride on (6) Pinwheel 3/1 in race 6, the Ramornie Hdcp 1200m (Listed) at Grafton on Wednesday. I think Pinwheel is good enough to knock off the equal fav (1) Border Rebel 3/1. Pinwheel comes in to the race with a fine record of 5 wins and 6 2nds from his 11 career starts. He ran 2nd/13 to the brilliant Hay List in the Grp 3 Healy Stakes at Eagle Farm 1200m on June 16 and before that was 2nd to love Conquers All over 1100m at Randwick and 2nd to Ahdashim there 1200m on May 15. He beat Mr Unforgettable over the Hawkesbury 1200m on May 1 when first-up since mid-Jan. Drawn the inside gate, Pinwheel should get every chance.

Daily Specials score with Jiff $5.10...ImpactPro nabs Kanter Braud $19.20

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Posted @ 10:00 pm

PPD Club guest tipster Alan Jacobs struck with a winner first-up on Sunday, landing JIFF $5.10/$2.20 at Canberra. His other selection was ANNIANNA 2nd $3.40/$1.80 at Cranbourne. Our ImpactPro ratings assessed 8 races at 4 meetings and scored with top-raters ROBERTS ROAD $6.60 and SPEEDYMAC $$6.60 at Warrnambool. There were 2 other winners, KANTER BRAU $19.20 and COURT YA $6.40. Here's how Alan Jacobs advised members to back Jiff:

Matthew Dale has (3) Jiff 13/4 all ready to post his fourth career win in race 3, a BM65 hdcp 1206m at Canberra (Acton surface) on Sunday. The Danehill Dancer 5YO looked out of luck when coming home well for his 3rd/12 at Canberra 1080m in BM65 class on June 25. Considering it was his first start for a month it was a particularly encouraging performance. He was beaten 2 lengths but was picking up ground nicely. He has a good record at his home track with 4 starts for 2 wins and 2 3rds. He's had 6 runs at the trip for 2 wins and a 3rd.

BB's big-race strike...Daily Specials tip Ironstein $5.00 wins Caloundra Cup

Sunday, July 4, 2010

Posted @ 11:42 am

The PPD Club's chief form analyst Brian Blackwell was in a great big-race form on Saturday, tipping Caloundra Cup winner IRONSTEIN $5.00/$2.10 at the Sunshine Coast. Other good winners for Club members came from Alan Jacobs, whose one-bet special was TRIPLE ELEGANCE $3.40 at Rosehill, while Statsman's one-bet system special was GHOSTMILK $2.50. Our UK international service gave 2 winners from 4 selections at $4.70 and $1.70. Here's how Brian advised our members to back Ironstein:

Gerald Ryan's 4YO (15) Ironstein 9/2 has impressed me at his last few starts so I'm keen to have a lash at him in race 7, the 2400m Caloundra Cup (Listed) at the Sunshine Coast. Ryan is a master-blaster with stayers and I doubt he'd have brought Ironstein all the way to Queensland unless he was confident the Zabeel gelding would be a truly competitive force in the Cup. He certainly showed what he's capable of with a powerful win over the Rosehill 2000m on June 19, and that came only 2 weeks after a 2 lens win there at 1900m, albeit only in BM80 class. But this is a stayer 'on the rise' and I think he can cope with the rise in class and distance.

Another BIG Daily Specials winner...Great Player $9.00 wins on Thursday

Thursday, July 1, 2010

Posted @ 7:10 pm

Yet another BIG winner for PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Thursday. BB gave only 2 tips for the day and scored with GREAT PLAYER 1st $9.00/$2.80 at Sale. It came hot on the heels of his winning tip for THE INVINCIBLE ONE $8.60/$2.50 on Wednesday. Here's what BB told our members about Great Player:

I tagged (12) Great Player 10/1 as one to follow (Daily Notebook) back on Jan 21 and he went on to score at Stony Creek 1600m on Mar 7. Today he's second-up from a spell and, I suggest, ready to win in race 8, a Country Showcase hdcp (RB68) 1713m at Sale. The 4YO got caught on the slower inside section of the track when a game 5th/12 at Sale 1413m (RB62) on June 19. He was btn 2.7 lens by Stella Command, conceding that horse 2kgs. Stacey Rawiller had little option but to maintain Great Player's position on the inside in the straight but the bias that day was for horses storming home very wide out. Great Player went past the 200m just in front and then was swamped in the final stages. He's stepping up in distance today and there's a jockey switch to Daniel Moor, a rider who deserves more opportunities than he gets.

Super Daily Specials winner...The Invincible One $8.60 scores on Wednesday

Fans of PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell have been counting the cash in the last few days...BB struck big on Wednesday with his Daily Specials tip THE INVINCIBLE ONE $8.60/$2.50 at Canterbury. Other winners from Sunday on were STAR BINT $2.10, DASHING SHADOW $3.10 and MEN ARE FROM MARS $1.80. Here's how BB advised our members to back The Invincible One:

I'm expecting sharp improvement from (4) The Invincible One 5/1 in race 4, a BM70 hdcp 1550m at Canterbury. Brett Cavanough's 5YO has been racing well without being able to win. He was 3rd at Narrabri 1400m in BM70 last start on June 20 and 6th/10 at Sandown-H in RB82 over 1400m on June 9, btn 3.6 lens by the smart Cheronbutch. He's had only one start at Canterbury and won over 1250m in June last year. Nash Rawiller, riding at his best, is aboard. He'll have The Invincible One right up on the pace.

Another big carnival winner...Pennacchio $4.50 wins for Daily Specials tips

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Another big carnival winner for the PPD Club's ace tipster Brian Blackwell on Saturday. He scored with his headline special PENNACCHIO $4.50 at Eagle Farm. Here's what BB told our members:

We had a nice win from (4) Pennacchio 4/1 on June 5 and I'm confident the Kiwi mare can deliver again in race 8, the Classic Mile 1600m at Eagle Farm on Saturday. The 5YO, winner of 7 of her 15 career starts, had no luck on her first Aussie outing. She struck a traffic jam in the straight before finishing 6th/13 to fellow Kiwi Wealth princess in the Grp 3 Glenlogan at Doomben 1350m on May 22. She made no mistakes next time around, though, scoring a slick win at Listed level over 1500m at EFarm on June 5. She's already a winner over 1600m, she's drawn well on the inside, she has Dwayne Dunn aboard again, and she goes into the race fit and well. Pennacchio opened at 11/2 on the corporates on Friday morning and at 9am on Saturday she was at 4/1, so there seems to be plenty of confidence behind her.

What a winner! BB strikes with longshot special Model Rules $24.20

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Posted @ 5:54 pm

He's done it again! The PPD Club's 'King of the Longshots' Brian Blackwell struck with a one-bet super-special on Tuesday, handing out MODEL RULES 1st $24.20/$5.30 at Kyneton. Here's how he advised our members to 'get on' this big winner:

Fresh from a break since late April, (11) Model Rules 12/1 should relish the wet conditions and prove a strong eachway chance for race 3, an RB62 hdcp 1218m at Kyneton on Tuesday. I tagged the 5YO mare as one to follow (Daily Notebook) after her 5th/10 at Ballarat 1200m on Mar 12. Next start, she won by 6 lens at Echuca in a Mdn 1400m at 7/2. She wound up that campaign with a 6 lens 11th/12 at Seymour 1400m (RB62) but it's best to just forget that run. She's gone well before when off a break. She's a winner and 2nd placer on slow going and finished 3rd on heavy at Wangaratta 1400m.
