BB makes it a great Australia Day...Tips Southern Speed $8.20, Tactless $3.10

Thursday, January 26, 2012

Posted @ 7:33 pm

It was a great Australia Day for followers of the PPD Club's Brian Blackwell on Thursday - the 'King of the Longshots' gave 3 Daily Specials for 2 winners - SOUTHERN SPEED $8.20/$2.60 and TACTLESS $3.10/$1.60. BB went against just about every media 'expert' in the land in tipping Southern Speed. He said her 'class' gave her the edge. Here's what BB advised our members - word for word...

Caulfield Cup winner (1) Southern Speed 7/1 should have enough sheer 'class' to topple her rivals in race 6, the John Dillon Stks (Listed hdcp) 1400m at Caulfield on Thursday. The 4YO mare's overall ratings put her well ahead of today's field and that includes her best rating over the 1400m journey. She returns off a break since her 4th/12 in the wfa Grp 1 Mackinnon 2000m at Flemington on Oct 29, btn 4 lens by Glass Harmonium. That run followed her strong Grp 1 Caulfield Cup win over Green Moon at Caulfield 2400m on Oct 15. She's had 2 starts at 1400m for a win while her first-up record shows 2 tries for a win on debut. I fancy the stable will have her tuned up for today's return to racing. As usual, the nation's top rider Craig Williams is aboard.

Monday, January 23, 2012

Posted @ 8:53 am

If you want to win money on the UK races, you can't do better than back the selections of the PPD Club's UK-based tipsters Simon Hall and Adrian Middleton. They are in fantastic form with great winners with their last 4 selections. On Saturday night, the only 2 tips handed out were for TRIOLO D'ALENE 1st $5.10/$2.30 and SMAD PLACE 1st $7.50/$3.50 at the Ascot meeting. On Sunday night, the winners continued - two selections only for 2 winners - LOOSE CHIPS 1ST $9.60/$2.10 at Towcester and VESPER BELLE $1.90/$1.20 at the Fairyhouse meeting in Ireland. Our UK tipsters deliver their selections with potted comments, and this is what they advised our members at the weekend (remember, NO other selections given, just these outstanding best bets):

Towcester R2: (6) LOOSE CHIPS 11/4 in early market...Dec 26 4th/11 Towcester 16f Hdl (1.25 lens); good reports.

Fairyhouse (Ire) R1: (5) VESPER BELL 6/4...RWalsh/Mullins AAOK; Dec 29 2nd/8 Leopardstown 20f MdnHdl (2 lens); stable keen.

Ascot R1: (7) TRIOLO D'ALENE 3/1 in early market...Geraghty/Henderson AAOK; Nov 21 1st/11 Fontainebleu (Fr) 18f Ch x 3 lens; good type.

Ascot R4: (2) SMAD PLACE 5/1...Off 309 days; Mar 18 10th/23 Cheltenham 17f Hdl Gd 1; classy; in good hands; fancied.

Exactly as BB predicted...Tenno $3.60 returns with a win

Friday, January 20, 2012

Posted @ 10:02 pm

Spot-on with his preview...That's how it was for PPD Club chief Brian Blackwell's one-bet Daily Specials tip on Friday. BB named TENNO 1st $3.60 as the sole bet for the day and he told our members exactly why Tenno could return from a spell and win. Here's what he said:

Promising 4YO (4) Tenno 9/2 should be able to make a winning return to racing in race 8, heat 5 of the Summer Challenge (RB62) 1520m at Mornington on Friday. The Mick Kent trained gelding showed considerable talent in his first campaign. He had 3 starts for a win and two placings. His ratings suggest he is easily up to handling today's class. Tenno debuted with a nose 2nd/14 in a Mdn 1300m at Seymour on June 6. Ten days later he was 3rd/11 there over 1309m and after that he powered to an easy 2.5 lens win in a Mdn 1600m at Cranbolurne on July 10. Kent is producing him first-up over 1520m which indicates he has him fit and ready.

BB in top form again...3 winners at $5.30, $3.80, $2.90 on Wednesday

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Posted @ 10:36 pm

He's done it again...Yes, PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell was nailing winners again on Wednesday. BB assessed 2 races for his Daily Specials tips and landed COSTA IN THE GLEN 1st $5.30/$2.00 and OCEANICA $3.80/$1.40. BB also assessed one race for his Longshot Special - the tip Second King ran 4th at $14.00/$3.00 but the 'danger' tip was the winner CHAMANDI $2.90/$1.40. To round off the day, our UK tipster Simon Hall nabbed 2 winners from 3 tips - GLENS BOY $7.00 at Newbury and EXEMPLARY $1.40 at Lingfield.

BB nabs 2 winners from 2 tips at $4.80 and $4.20...plus the exactas!

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Posted @ 11:04 pm

Great tipping again...Two Daily Specials tips for 2 winners for PPD Club chief Brian Blackwell on Tuesday - and for good measure BB tipped the 2nd placegetters in both races to land the exactas and quinellas! BB struck at the Cenberra meeting with TANYA JEAN 1st $4.20/$1.70 and runner-up Dab Touch $3.00 for a $14.80 exacta and $7.00 quinella, plus POETIC JUSTICE $4.80/$1.80 and runner-up Natch Catch $2.90 with the exacta paying $18.70 and the quinella $6.80. Trifecta fans could have made a killing, too. Taking the Field-for-3rd at $14 and $18 the returns were $101.90 and $92.90. Here's exactly how BB handed out these superb tips to PPD Cluyb members - word for word:

Given a break of 6 weeks after a bold run at Goulburn, (4) Tanya Jean 2/1 looks a top chance for race 5, a BM60 hdcp 1000m at Canberra on Tuesday. The Danny Williams trained 4YO Starcraft mare was btn 1.9 lens when 5th/15 in a BM70 at Goulburn on Dec 4. Three starts back she scored a Cl 1 win over 1000m at Canberra on Oct 14. Williams spaces her runs so I'm not concerned by the lack of a run since early December. I feel sure this shrewd trainer will have her wound up for the short sprint. Locally trained 5YO (2) Dab Touch 5/2 appeals as the main threat following his last start, first-up win in a BM60 at Canberra 1000m on Dec 30. He won by 2.8 lens, conceding 3kgs to the runner-up.

Strong local galloper (8) Poetic Justice 6/1 is an eachway cinch bet for race 7, a BM65 hdcp 1400m at Canberra. The Fastnet Rock 4YO ran 3rd/11 over the Canberra 1200m in BM60 last start on Dec 11. He was btn 1.7 lens but didn't have much luck. He ran into a traffic jam 150m out when angling for a narrow run. At his previous start he scored a BM55 win at Canberra 1200m on Nov 27. He's had 10 starts at Canberra for 3 wins, one 2nd and two 3rds. Today he's drawn well and should secure every chance. Nick Olive's 5YO mare (7) Natch Catch 5/2 rates as the danger runner. Her last start 2.6 lens 7th/14 at Kembla Grange 1400m on Dec 28 was a good run.

BB scores again with TINKLER'S LANE $15.00/$4.30 on Sunday!

Monday, January 16, 2012

Posted @ 11:46 am

Only 3 Daily Specials tips in 2 races from PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Sunday - for a winner TINKLER'S LANE $15.00/$4.30 and a 2nd, CON THRUST $7.30/$2.40. BB told members: 'Jarrod McLean is backing up (2) Tinkler's Lane 8/1 after just 5 days so I fancy this 6YO will be OK following his 2nd/6 Stawell 2000m in RB72 on Jan 10. He's the danger.' You can't beat great tipping like this - and that's why the PPD Club has an army of followers, many of them long-time subscribers from back in the late 1990s!

Another winner from BB...Rollerball $4.30 scores at Ballarat

Friday, January 13, 2012

Posted @ 10:32 am

Yet another great winning strike by PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Thursday - his eachway special was Ballarat winner ROLLERBALL $4.30/$1.90, and he named 3rd placegetter CRYSTALLISED $5.40/$1.90 as the main danger. Rollerball was 12/1 in the overnight market but PPD Club members led the betting attack on Thursday morning! Hetre's what BB told them:

Robert Smerdon's newcomer (10) Rollerball 12/1 did enough on debut to signal he'll be a sound eachway chance over the 'mile' in race 2, a Mdn Plate (3YO) 1600m at Ballarat on Thursday. The O'Reilly gelding was slowly away on debut in a Mdn 1400m at Ballarat on Dec 28 and was well back turning for home. He caught my eye with a solid run into 4th/12, btn 3.8 lens, behind Astrodynamic. He was definitely just warming up in the final 100m which suggests he'll relish today's extra 200m. Admittedly, this is a tough field of maiden gallopers, most of whom are likely to be showing improvement on their latest outings. The key danger could be (16) Crystalised 10/1 from the Anthony Freedman yard. The Zabeel filly finished strongly down the outside for a close 3rd/12 Sale 1414m on Dec 24 when making her racetrack debut. She'd have won in another stride. The 'mile' will be ideal for her.

BB lands another longshot winner...Neptune Express $11.50/$3.20 on Monday

Monday, January 9, 2012

Posted @ 7:53 pm

'King of the Longshots' Brian Blackwell was right on target again on Monday, landing NEPTUNE EXPRESS 1st $11.50/$3.20 at Stony Creek. BB assessed just one race for the day and named 2 chances in the 5th race - Neptune Express and Teutonic Knights. And it was the longshot of the pair who nabbed the first prize. BB told our members: 'Doug Harrison's (10) Neptune Express 8/1 could be an improver. The Pentire 3YO had no luck when 11th/12 Sale 1414m Mdn on Dec 24.'' As usual, our ImpactPro ratings were again bringing home the winners on Monday - SKITTER $3.60, MISS SIRENA $3.60, VILAKAZI STREET $8.00, CONCILIATORY $8.40, THE OTHER DRAGON $3.20. Our 3 winners at Moruya provided 3 legs of the $570 First 4.

Sensational! BB lands 1st/2nd strike...Our HK, Singapore tips win 4 from 4

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Posted @ 11:55 pm

Sensational tipping from the PPD Club team on Sunday...Club editor Brian Blackwell gave just one tip for the day, Warrnambool winner FOREVER HERE $2.50 and advised members that Baleus 2nd $9.90 was the main danger. The pair returned a $14.00 exacta and $9.70 quinella. A $22 Field for 3rd trifecta paid $190.00. Our international service had a 100% strike rate with 4 selections at Kranji (Singapore) and Sha Tin (Hong Kong) - all were winners: MITRE PEAK $7.20 and DOUBLE S $1.70 in Singapore and ALL VICTORY $4.40 and WAY MAH STAR $2.30 in Hong Kong. As if that wasn't enough, our popular Impact Pro ratings also had a big day. There were 8 winners from the 10 assessed races - STARKIATO $2.10, MR O'POSTROPHE $7.40, OFREGON SPIRIT $2.40, TIGRESS JOY $2.60, FOREVER HERE $2.60, WHIRLWIND $15.20, ONE LICKETY SPLIT $3.80 and RAGE AND RAVE $12.60. The Coffs Hbr daily double was nabbed paying $203.50, and the ratings landed the winners in its assessed 3 legs of the $14,818 quadrella.

Saturday, January 7, 2012

Posted @ 9:54 am

The PPD Club's ImpactPro ratings remain one of our most popular sections - and no wonder! Week after week, the ratings deliver a smorgasbord of winners and exotics...just as they did on Friday in the 5th race at Seymour. The top-rated selectionwas DELIGHTFUL TESS 1st $5.30, the next best was Here De Siren $14.70 (2nd) and a third best was Keltoi $9.90 (3rd). The trifecta paid $477.90, the exacta returned $71.80 and the quinella was $42.80. ImpactPro ratings operate on a handful of carefully selected races each day. You can access them, and every other section, when you become a member of the PPD Club - for just $1.20 a day!

What a day...Winners roll in, and we nab a hat-trick in the UK

Friday, December 30, 2011

Posted @ 6:48 am

A tremendous day of winners for PPD Club members on Thursday. Club editor Brian Blackwell struck with a 1st-2nd blow of BLAZING DRAGON $3.00/$1.30 and Pesarto 2nd (quinella $3.20, exacta $6.70) at Gosford, and then came close to landing a huge longshot tip when GOLDEN DIVE $14.80/$3.70 ran 2nd at Gosford. Our ImpactPro ratings were right on the mark again with 5 winners from the 7 assessed races - I GET AROUND $3.70, HELLO MISTER $5.00, ZONED IN $3.20, BEL RHYTHM $9.70 and SET SAIL $6.40. The day wound up with a brilliant hat-trick from Simon Hall our UK man - he gave 3 tips and all of them won - OPEN HEARTED $5.30/$2.70 at Doncaster, KARMA CHAMELEON $2.60/$1.10 at Southwell and INTO WAIN $2.10/$1.30 at Kelso.

BB hits 'em again...Del Palio 1st $6.20 plus an $821 trifecta!

Thursday, December 22, 2011

Posted @ 5:09 pm

Another huge strike by PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Wednesday. The 'King of the Longshots' tipped Sandown winner DEL PALIO $6.20/$2.20 and recommended runner-up VALEDICTORIAN $3.30/$1.40 as the main danger. They returned a $33 exacta and $13.00 quinella. Members who used the pair as bankers for 1st/2nd with the Field for 3rd in the trifecta were able to land the $821 dividend for a $26 bet. Our international service was right on target as well - Hong Kong tipster Kevin Knight nabbed NORDIC STAR $4.10/$1.70 from his 2 selections at Happy Valley and Simon Hall gave 2 selections in the UK for one winner, QUINCY DES PICTONS $2.80/$1.90 at Ludlow. Here's what BB told our members about Del Palio:

A slashing run at Sale last start signals that (14) Del Palio 11/2 is a genuine eachway prospect for race 5, an RB68 hdcp 1200m at Sandown Lakeside on Wednesday The 4YO, trained by Colin and Cindy Alderson, overcome trouble to rocket home from 10th on the turn to finish 1.4 lens 3rd/12 in an RB62 1200m at Sale on Dec 7. That was his first outing since early June. Del Palio goes up in class today but he drops back 3kgs in the weights, and there's a significant change of rider to Dean Yendall. He'll need luck but if he gets it then Del Palio will be right in the finish. The David Hayes trained (9) Valedictorian 9/4 is the danger. He was btn only a half loength in a BM70 1250m at Canterbury on Nov 30 when first-up since early March.

BB lands Mr O'Postrophe $7.90 at Kyneton on Tuesday

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Posted @ 7:34 am

PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell was right on target on Tuesday - landing Kyneton winner MR O'POSTROPHE $7.90/$2.40 with his only 'longshot' tip for the day. Here's what BB told our members:

After her recent problems, Lisa Cropp should be hungry to get back into winning form and perhaps (3) Mr O'Postrophe 9/1 can help her along the rocky path in race 5, an RB58 hdcp 1900m at Kyneton on Tuesday. The 6YO was first-up from a break when 7th/10 in an RB58 1469m hdcp at Kyneton on Dec 6. He was btn 7.5 lens but had no luck from the 400m right through to the 100m mark. He was chopped out when angling for a run early in the straight and that put paid to any chance he had being in the finish. Lifted to the 1900m, he's much better suited.

Another great longshot winner...BB tips Draw Forward $20.00 at Moonee Valley

Sunday, November 20, 2011

Posted @ 10:29 am

Another amazing longshot winner from PPD Club chief Brian Blackwell on Saturday. Living right up to his reputation as 'King of the Longshots' Brian handed out Moonee Valley winner DRAW FORWARD 1st $20.00/$4.50 for Club members. BB gave only 2 longshot bets for the day. And here's what he advised our members, word for word:

SA trainer Richard Jolly has a sound win and place record with his runners at Moonee Valley - which leads me to suggest he has a good chance at long odds with (8) Draw Forward 14/1 in race 4, a 3YO Fillies hdcp 1200m at Moonee Valley. She's had 4 starts to date for a win last start at Morphettville in a Mdn 3YOF 1050m on Nov 1. That was her first start since Aug 3 when she ran a closing 4th/11 in a Mdn at Balaklava 1005m. Jolly must have an opinion of her to bring her to Melbourne off a Mdn victory in Adelaide. He's engaged Steven Arnold for the ride.

Another 2 Daily Specials winners...$16.50 and $1.80 on Tuesday

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Posted @ 11:51 pm

Right on target again...Yes, the PPD Club's Brian Blackwell was in great form again on Tuesday. He assessed 2 races for our Daily Specials section, named 3 horses and landed two winners - STAND READY $16.50/$3.30 at Ballina and JANSZOON $1.80/$1.10 at Warrnambool. BB's striking winner after winner for Club members. This is what he said about the longshot winner Stand Ready: 'Look out for a good effort from (14) Stand Ready 10/1. She was luckless last start when 2nd/12 Lismore 1400m Mdn on Nov 8.' And here's what told members about Janszoon: 'Lifted in distance by 300m, (9) Janszoon 11/4 gets his chance for a winning breakthrough in race 3, a Mdn Plate 1700m at Warrnambool...The locally trained 3YO went to the line stoutly for 2nd/11 over 1400m in Mdn class at W'bool on Nov 3. He travelled 3 and 4-wide all the way and chased home the winner in determined fashion to be btn only a length. That was his second career outing. On debut he ran 2nd/11 in a Mdn 1200m at Terang on Oct 23, btn a neck. I fancy he's going to relish today's longer journey.'

BB strikes again...2 tips, 2 winners at $3.50 and $4.80 on Monday

Monday, November 14, 2011

Posted @ 11:15 pm

Another superb tipping performance from PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell on Monday. He handed out 2 Daily Specials selections and both were winners at Wangaratta -- UMATIC $3.50/$1.60 and VERY HUMOROUS $4.80/$1.80. And here's what he told Club members:

UMATIC

Coming off a luckless 3rd last start, (3) Umatic 7/4 looks all set to strike in race 6, an RB58 hdcp 2010m at Wangaratta on Monday. The Umatilla 5Yo got well back on the rails in an RB62 hdcp at Sale 1700m on Nov 4 and turning into the straight was behind a 'wall' of runners. He didn't get clear room until near the 100m and from that point went to the line strongly to finish 3rd/10, btn 4 lens. The way he finished off that race looks like a clear signal he will relish today's longer trip. He's drawn well in gate #6 (after scr's) and the usually reliable Kate Mallyon claims 1.5kgs.

VERY HUMOROUS

Local mare (9) Very Humorous 7/1 won with plenty in reserve last start so I fancy she can notch another victory in race 7, an RB62 hdcp 1000m at Wangaratta. The Happy Giggle 4YO, trained by John Ledger, resumed from a spell on Nov 1 and led all the way to score a 3 lens win in an RB62 1000m hdcp at Wangaratta. It was her first outing since June 19. Last time in she won a BM50 for fillies and mares at Wagga 1000m, so today's trip is just what she likes.

Super Sunday winner...BB nabs longshot winner Condahussler $14.70

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Posted @ 6:31 pm

PPD Club chief Brian Blackwell was in sparkling 'longshot' form on Sunday - his headlined Daily Specials tip was Geelong winner CONDAHUSSLER $14.70/$3.70. And BB's only longshot tip of the day was ANNIE'S A GEM 2nd $8.40/$2.40 at Donald. On Saturday, Brian's two Daily Specials were LIGHTINTHENITE 1st $4.00/$1.90 and SHOPAHOLIC 3rd $6.80/$2.10. Here's what he told members about Condahussler:

Condahussler, from the local stable of Heath Conners, has drawn wide but he possesses early pace and may be slick enough to overcome any disadvantage. He won easily by 3.3 lens at Echuca 1400m RB62 hdcp on Nov 1, leading all the way. He's had 5 tries at the 1400m trip for 2 wins and a 2nd.

BB's amazing Cup coup: He tips Dunaden $9.10 but nailed it at 100/1 three months ago!

PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell has brought off one of the greatest modern-day media tipping coups in the Melbourne Cup. He nailed the winner DUNADEN 1st $9.10/$3.40 for Club members - but BB also tipped Dunaden as far back as August! In Practical Punting Monthly's August issue he named Dunaden as one of his earlybird tips for the Cup...and at that stage the French stayer was a virtual unknown and could be backed at 100/1! BB also named Dunaden as his selection in the November issue of Practical Punting! And here's what he told Club members today in his Cup preview:

Several months ago I decided that the French stayer (3) Dunaden 8/1 could win the Melbourne Cup and I went on to hand out the tip for him in the August issue of Practical Punting when he was available at 100/1, so it's with some diffidence I tip him for the big race on Tuesday (race 7, Grp 1, 3200m) when he is down to much shorter odds, but my conviction that he can win is as resolute as ever. Dunaden is a fine, strong stayer as he showed with his emphatic win in the Geelong Cup 2400m on Oct 19. He carried 58kgs in that race (5kgs over the Limit) and drops to 54.5kgs (3.5 kgs over the Limit) in the Cup. There are no concerns about him staying the two miles. In France, where staying ranks are very strong, he won a Grp 3 over 3082m at Longchamp on Apr 30 and was a nose 2nd there over 3100m at Grp 2 at his next start on May 22. His one failure in the last 10 starts was his 9th/13 in a wfa Grp 2 at Deauvilled on Aug 21 but don't get too dismayed - he raced 4 and 5 wide all the way and copped a check at the 200m when trying to go forward. He should have finished much closer. The winner was the UK stayer (2) Jukebox Jury 11/1. They met at level weights and JJ now has to 'give' Dunaden 2.5kgs. Dunaden is drawn OK and let's hope that his new rider Christophe Lemaire gives him a good passage.

LATEST NEWS: The PPD Club's ImpactPro ratings landed the 1st/2nd quinella and exacta of Dunaden and Red Cadeaux, paying $232 and $364. Dunaden was the top-rated selection, Red Cadeaux was the second selection. Dunaden was also the sole Video View tip for the big race!

BB scores again...Con Thrust $1st $3.90 & Dalmabache $5.40 win on Thursday

Just one race assessed for the day - and PPD Club editor Brian Blackwell hauled in another terrific 1st/2nd strike on Thursday. BB - who is tipping in tremendous form - landed Ballarat winner CON THRUST $3.90/$1.50 and tossed in Daley 2nd $3.10/$1.40 as the danger runner. The exacta paid $16.60 and the quinella returned $5.60. As if that winner wasn't enough, BB followed up in the final race at Ballarat with his one-and-only eachway special running out a winner - DOLMABACHE $5.40/$2.20. Here's how BB advised our members to back these 2 superb winners:

CON THRUST 1st $3.90

Chopped out at the 200m when launching a bold finale at Echuca last start, (1) Con Thrust 5/1 gets his chance to strike back in race 3, a Mdn Plate 1400m at Ballarat on Thursday. The 5YO, trained by Heath Conners, was first-up from a lengthy break when 7th/13 to Anlon in a Mdn 1200m at Echuca on Oct 11, btn 5.3 lens. He should have been much closer. Held up on the home turn, he got clear but then was badly hampered in a tighten-up at the 200m, just as he was starting to put himself into the race and the possibility of at least a placing. He lost all chance in the incident but balanced up and then ran to the line strongly. Today he's lifted 200m in distance and I suggest this will be ideal. The danger runner might be Peter Moody's unraced Carnegie 3YO (8) Daley 2/1f. He's an OTI Racing syndicate galloper so we can expect him to have some ability.

DALMABACHE 1st $5.40

With Listed Race form in NZ, (10) Dolmabache 9/1 appeals as an eachway job for race 8, an RB68 Country Showcase hdcp 1600m at Ballarat on Thursday. The 4YO Redoute's Choice 4YO ran 5th/13 at Matamata 1600m Rtg70 on Oct 8, btn 3 lengths. That followed her 2nd/16 over 1400m at Te Rapa on Sep 16, btn a nose. Go back earlier in the year and she ran 6th/16 at Listed level at Riccarton 2000m and 7th/15 Ellerslie 2100m, also Listed, on Mar 9. These are solid formlines for a race like today's. Ben Melham is booked, the draw is fine and the distance should be ideal.

He's done it again! BB tips 1st and 2nd in Bendigo Cup

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Posted @ 6:11 pm

Big-race specialist Brian Blackwell was right on target again in Wednesday's Bendigo Cup...He gave the outrigbht tip for the winner TANBY $3.70/$1.60 and advised PPD Club members that the danger runner was AT FIRST SIGHT 2nd $3.20/$1.50. Those selections produced an $8.00 exacta and $4.30 quinella. Here's what BB told our members, word for word:

Believing, as I do, that French stayer Dunaden can the Melbourne Cup, I have to give strong credence to the frecent Geelong Cup formline and that means I regard (6) Tanby 3/1 as the main chance for race 8, the Bendigo Cup 2400m at Bendigo. Tanby finished three-quarters of a length 2nd/13 to Dunaden in the 2400m Geelong Cup on Oct 19. That followed his game 2nd/15 to Shewan in the Grp 2 Herbert Power 2400m at Caulfield on Oct 8. Those two outings will surely have him fit and ready for today's assignment? On form, the danger runner is going to be his stablemate (1) At First Sight 2/1f. The 5YO ran 2nd/16 to December Draw in the Grp 3 Naturalism 2000m at Caulfield on Sep 17. That was his third Aussie start since coming over from England. He is obviously a top type. However, the one little niggle is that he hasn't raced for almost 6 weeks. If he's 100%, the 5YO will be right in the finish - after all, his formlines include 5th in the Grp 1 Irish Derby 2400m behind Cape Blanco!
