Only two selections this week but both provided great returns for punters. Our 'Best Bet' of the day I AM MAGIC romped home in Adelaide at $4.60/$1.80, whilst our two picks at Caulfield THAT'S THE ONE and MOSHEEN ran 1-2 for an $8.70 QUINELLA.

It didn't quite go our way this week with 'Best Bet' LIKE AN EAGLE going the best of our three selections ($3.30/$1.50), nosed out in the last by Pago Rock.

Special Ops Results For Saturday, 21st January, 2012

'Best Bet' TOTAL ATTRACTION ($4.10/$1.80) got there on the line at Flemington for Special Ops punters after a couple of hairy moments in the straight. Out West, both our 'Main Dangers' saluted. The underrated GOOSE got the chocolates at $7.80/$2.40 (with the luxury of an $11 TOP FLUC also available), whilst consistent mare DURRAHMORE was too good at $3.40/$1.80 in the seventh.

The money was strong for our 'Best Bet' CHIVVY in Sydney and the Team Hawkes filly didn't disappoint, winning quite comfortably in the end ($3.30 TOP FLUC). 'Main Dangers' SANDHILL CHIEF ($6.60/$2.60) and MAULE'S CREEK ($2.30/$1.40) also found the winner's circle, whilst our 'Each-Way Special' PLAYACTION ($8.60/$3.00) ran a good second on the Gold Coast.

Some great dividends extracted for multiples punters following the fifth in Perth. Special Ops mentioned just three horses for the race, with our 'Best Bet' GOOSE ($11.00) unfortunately running second after doing plenty of work up front. He was beaten, however, by our other selection THE UNDERWORLD ($8.80/$2.70), in the process landing a $40.50 QUINELLA & $77.30 EXACTA.

A welcome return to the winner's list in the form of ultra-impressive filly SOFT SAND ($2.80/$1.60), our heavily spruiked 'Best Bet'. We were also spot on the money with our assessment of Race 4 at Sandown, naming just four horses (SCARF, BOCUSE, LET'S BE HAPPY & VEEWAP) to snag an $85 TRIFECTA & $283 FIRST FOUR.

A tough day at the office all round last weekend with main dangers KONTIKI PARK ($15.00/$4.60) and THUNDERLUV'N ($3.20/$1.30) running best for Special Ops with their second place finishes. Hopefully a roughie out West today can give us all a nice Christmas present...

'Best Bet' MASCHINO proved far too good at Ascot, storming over the top of them for a commanding victory at $3.70/$1.70. Here's how Special Ops described his chances:

"Maschino makes great appeal in the seventh at Ascot today after a totally luckless run last start... When given the opportunity to demonstrate it, this horse has a rapier turn of foot and I am supremely confident he can return to the winner's circle today with just 53kg on his back. This bloke put in some scintillating last-to-first performances before a 9-week let-up and looks well placed to repeat the dose today."

In other results, our 'One At Odds' MARCELLUS ($16.00/$4.20) was narrowly defeated at Flemington, but still scored a great return for each-way punters.
