RACING Victoria’s Board tomorrow will receive a report on the investigation into the Smoking Aces race at Cranbourne in April 2011.
RV deputy chairman Rob Montgomery headed the three member panel into the Cranbourne race on April 27 won by Smoking Aces. Montgomery, RV steward James Hitchcock and lawyer Tony Burns interviewed Danny Nikolic, who rode Smoking Aces, his father John, brothers John Jnr and Tommy.
Owner Nic Ectoros, several other jockeys who rode in the race as well as trainers, and professional punters were also interviewed. After completing its own inquiry into the race Victoria Police announced in July last year it would not be pursuing the matter further.
