ROSEHILL

RACE ONE

Favourite backers had little to concern themselves about after Zumbelina scored handsomely.

Although drifting from $1.50 out to $1.75 come start time, she still held 66 percent of all bets on the race.

Positioned at the rear of the four-horse field, jockey Rory Hutchings was briefly blocked for a run in the straight but then found clear room with the horse doing to the rest to land some good bets.

Fiery Trail ($5.50-$4.60), which led, battled on for second while Cadogan ($4.60) was ridden to beat the favourite but couldn't sustain the run and wound up third.

Cadogan was the best backed to beat the favourite but only held a fifth of what the winner did.

BETS: Zumbelina $2,000 @ $1.75 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,300 @ $1.60

RACE TWO

Despite drifting from $2.50 out to as much as $3.60, Serena Bay ($3.30) led throughout to maintain her unbeaten record.

The reason for the drift was the popularity of Godolphin runner Florid ($2.40-$2.35), which raced outside it but peaked on its run at the 150 metre mark.

Between them the pair held 70 percent of all bets on the race.

Reflectivity ($15-$21), despite being vetted behind the barriers, rattled home to be nosed out of it by Serena Bay, while Ipso Facto ($12-$8.50-$9.50) wound up third just in front of the favourite.

BETS: Serena Bay $3,200 @ $3.50

BETS: Reflectivity $1,000 x $2,000 e/w @ $15/$3

RACE THREE

Rank outsider The Rumour File ($35-$61), who had very little interest from TAB punters, produced a big finish to get the result after racing near the tail of the field.

The Chris Waller-trained runner nailed Hunter Jack ($14-$13) right on the line after that particular galloper did all the bullocking work and kicked away in the straight.

Balmain Boy ($3.80-$4-$4.20) did a stack of work to find the lead and as expected dropped off.

Liapari, who was a noted drifter from $2.70-$3.60, was the second most popular in terms of money taken behind Balmain Boy.

RACE FOUR

The money was spot on again here with Delightful Feeling take out yet another TAB Highway.

Backed from $3.80-$3.20, it was clearly the one punters wanted as it was twice as popular as the next best backed runner in Al Cubana ($6-$4.60-$5.50).

Racing four-back the inside, jockey Nick Heywood kept following the rails before finding space midway down the running to beat gallant frontrunner The Nickster ($11-$10).

Gambled, which attracted some large bets, was the third most popular in terms of money taken and grabbed third with Twilight Charade fourth just in front of Al Cubana which made up steady ground from the rear.

BETS: Delightful Feeling $2,000 @ $3.20

BETS: Gambled $5,000 e/w @ $7/$2.36

RACE FIVE

Soviet Courage made it a blowout result in the fifth after coming from near last approaching the home turn.

Given no attention by punters, Soviet Courage ($11-$21) flew home to beat Danjeu ($21-$16) which had specking and Zourkhan ($7) third.

The heavily tried stablemate to the winner, Pursuit Of Honour, was behind the placegetters after making its run down the centre of the track.

Pursuit Of Honour held just under half of all bets on the race while Soviet Courage's win gave trainer Chris Waller his second double-figure winner for the day following the effort of The Rumour File earlier.

BETS: Pursuit Of Honour $6,000 @ $3.20, $4,000 @ $3.20

RACE SIX

Punters landed the plonk in the sixth with Hogmanay leading throughout.

You could have secured $10 late yesterday and still $8.50 in the morning, however, by the time the race rolled around it was into $5.50 and second favourite behind Unbiased ($5-$4.80).

Asinara ($7.50) had support as did Romneys Choice ($16-$9.50).

Unbiased held the most money of the runners with bets on it accounting for 40 percent of the market.

BETS: Hogmanay $1,000 @ $5.50

RACE SEVEN

Snoopy had very good backing late and the money proved to be spot on.

Backed from $4.20 into $4 in the final stages of betting, Snoopy was taken to the front from the outside barrier by jockey Tommy Berry and dictated terms.

With popular elect Moher ($2.70-$3-$3.50) doing a stack of outside the leader, Snoopy kicked away at the 300 metres to hold off the fast-finishing pair of Unequivocal ($18) and Wine Tales ($21-$14).

Moher, which was responsible for nearly half of all bets, weakened in the straight and was unplaced.

BETS: Snoopy $1,500 @ $4.20, $1,500 x $2,000 e/w @ $4.60/$1.72

RACE EIGHT

Interstellar proved to be a huge disappointment to favourite backers.

Finding the front, Interstellar ($2-$2.30) did drift late in the piece but was a commanding favourite with TAB customers who piled into her. She held 75 percent of all bets on the race but was a spent force at the 200 metres and was subsequently unplaced.

Madotti, $14 late Friday, started an $8 chance and lunged right on the line to beat Pepperberry ($8.50), which raced on the rails and Magic Alibi ($7.50-$7) which flew home from the rear.

BETS: Interstellar $4,000 @ $2.15, $3,400 @ $2.20, $3,500 @ $2

RACE NINE

Upscale defied the betting drift to lead throughout in the lucky last.

Getting out in the market from $3.20 to $4.20 thanks to the big support for Firsthand ($3.70-$3.20), Upscale was never in danger of defeat.

Secret Trail ($8.50-$7.50-$6) finished off the race nicely from the rear while Firsthand wound up third after sitting in the one-one for most of the trip.

Bets on Firsthand accounted for just over 33 percent of the market, while Upscale was the best supported outside the fav and held 22 percent.

BETS: Upscale $2,500 @ $3.50 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Firsthand $5,000 @ $3.50, $5,500 @ $3.30

MOONEE VALLEY

RACE ONE

Punters were only focused on two horses, however, neither were able to figure in the finish.

It was left to Heavenly Descent ($7-$9) to score the upset despite sitting three-wide the journey.

Attracting 15 percent of all bets on the race, Heavenly Descent was too strong for the leader Tiffanys Lass ($13-$12) while the most popular runner in terms of money taken, Invincibella ($1.90-$2.90) wound up third.

The race favourite bottomed out in the morning and then drifted alarmingly late as the big money came for Moonlites Choice ($4.40-$3.10).

Invincibella held 52 percent of the money.

RACE TWO

Cao Cao ($3.20-$4) landed the money for favourite backers in the second event on the card.

Settling just off the speed the Mick Price-trained runner swept around the field and hit the lead midway down the running to score impressively.

TAB customers collected big time here as the winner held approximately 45 percent of the market.

Kedleston ($7.50-$5) ran second after sitting outside the leader while the frontrunner Blackwolf Run ($7-$6.50), which was specked lightly, hung on to third.

BETS: Cao Cao $2,000 @ $3.60, $2,000 e/w @ $3.40/$1.52

RACE THREE

TAB customers landed another big blow here with Lyuba getting the verdict.

The first horse backed when markets opened earlier this week, Lyuba was as much as $4.60 but after heavily support for three straight days was crunched into $2.50 favouritism.

Holding well over half of the market, the Darren Weir-trained runner proved too strong for the fast-finishing Chiavari ($6.50-$5-$6) and Very Choosy ($4-$3.10).

Very Choose was the best tried late but still held roughly half of what the winner did.

BETS: Lyuba $5,000 @ $2.50, $5,000 @ $2.45 TWICE

RACE FOUR

Wise Hero was one of the best backed runners of the day and landed a big plunge.

With $4.20 still on offer last yesterday and $3.50 available this morning, punters continued to line up in their droves to crunch it into $2.70.

Holding 33 percent of the total investment, Wise Hero sat outside the leader but was too strong in beating What A Shock ($14-$31).

Of the others, Styleman ($10-$14-$9) was tried late and grabbed third while Widgee Turf ($6), best backed to beat the fav, was luckless and just behind them.

BETS: Wise Hero $5,000 @ $2.70

RACE FIVE

Black Sheep was the best backed runner on the card and landed the money.

With $3.70 on offer in the morning, it was crunched into $2.50 by jump time off the back of a total hold of 72 percent total hold in the market.

Flying Light, which was $5-$4, was the only one seriously tried to beat the favourite but held 10 percent of what the winner did.

BETS: Black Sheep, $15,000 @ $1.46 place, $10,000 @ $1.44 place, $3,000 @ $2.60, $4,000 @ $2.50

RACE SIX

Hell Or Highwater ($15-$14-$15) led throughout for jockey Dean Yendall to cause a minor upset.

Largely ignored in preference to Payroll ($3.20), Beluga Blue ($6-$8.50) and Dulverton ($8) who commanded 70 percent of the betting between them.

Miles Of Krishan ($5) had its share of admirers also and wound up third just behind Lopartega ($17-$16-$17).

BETS: Payroll $2,000 @ $2.30

RACE SEVEN

Boom Time defied a betting drift to tough it out and cause an upset in beating the heavily tried High Church.

Ridden by Craig Williams, Boom Time ($6-$7.50) was on the speed throughout but kicked on strongly to beat Master Zephyr ($18) and High Church ($4.40-$3.50) which rattled home.

High Church was twice as popular as Boom Time in terms of money taken but the pair, along with Little White Cloud ($5) were the three standout picks with TAB customers.

BETS: High Church $4,000 @ $3.60

RACE EIGHT

Stellar Collision was one of the best tried runners in Sydney and Melbourne all day, however, after being back in the field and wide was absolutely luckless.

Shakespearean Lass ($21-$26-$31) had a nice run just off speed before getting out into clear air and finishing over the top of Sunday Escape ($41) and Runsati ($21).

Stellar Collision was smashed on the home turn and finished at the rear of the field. Bets on it accounted for well over 50 percent of the total investment.

BETS: Stellar Collision $6,800 @ $2.60

RACE NINE

Kings Command started the day as $4.40 favourite but by the time the race jumped he was considered an $8 chance.

Settling just behind the speed and needing a run approaching the turn, jockey Ben Thompson found a gap and Kings Command sprinted through it to catch Cana right on the line.

Cana had been well supported right throughout the week with those that secured as much as $11 about her chances almost landing the money. She jumped at $5.50.

Race favourite Star Fortune, which opened today $6, was backed into $4.40 and never got a crack at them after looking at a wall of horseflesh all the way down the straight.

Star Fortune was responsible for 27 percent of all bets on the race while Cana's hold was 20 percent.

BETS: Star Fortune $2,000 @ $4.80 MULTIPLE TIMES
