The Newmarket Handicap would come in to calculation for Reparations if the Freedman trained runner can carry 59kg to victory in the Standish Handicap, reports Racing Network.

Reparations has already firmed from $4.20 to $3.90 for Thursday's feature sprint at Flemington with Sportsbet.com.au.

Co-trainer Lee Freedman is pleased with the condition of Reparations but is slightly concerned by the weight allocated to the lightly raced six-year-old.

"I think the 59kg could be a bit of an issue, the nature of the race and who is in it led to him being the mandatory top weight, that is the only downer," Freedman said.

"He appears to be in good order and is a horse that obviously races well down the straight."

Reparations resumed from a break with a dominant win over the Standish course and distance on Melbourne Cup day, carrying 55.5kg to defeat Office Bearer and Final Crescendo.

"If he is able to perform well with the weight, the Newmarket has to be an obvious option," Freedman said.

"He went down to the Peninsula for a couple of weeks after his win on Melbourne Cup day, he has had a trial and is in good order.

"There is not many options for a horse of his rating at this time of year so we might need to look at higher targets if he goes well again."

Lord Of The Sky is on the second line of betting at $4 with Sportsbet.com.au and is due to back-up after finishing second to Tried And Tired at Sportingbet Park on Boxing Day.
