Gai Waterhouse is planning an Australian Cup (2000m) campaign for Melbourne Cup runner-up Fiorente as part of her Melbourne Festival of Racing charge. Waterhouse's Racing Manager Bruce Slade says as long as the gelding pleases the stable when back in training he'll be targeted at the $1 million feature. "At this stage we have pencilled in the Australian Cup for Fiorente," Slade says. "We'll just have to have a chat with the owners first and see how he comes up of course...As long as everything is going well with the horse it looks a nice race for his autumn program."

Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon is also after the Australian Cup at Flemington on March 9. The 6YO is likely to have two starts in his autumn campaign. Plans are for Green Moon to resume in the $500,000 Grp 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 23, before stepping up to the Australian Cup.
