Rain and more rain and now the Caulfield Cup meeting is in danger of being called off...Chief Steward Terry Bailey says if the condition of the track continues to deteriorate, he could be forced to make a difficult decision on Saturday morning. At 4pm, the track was rated Heavy-9.

At least one official is adamant the Cup meeting will go ahead. Racing Victoria chief executive Rob Hines says there is "no way" rain would force Saturday's Caulfield Cup meeting to be abandoned or transferred. Will he, then, over-rule the stewards if they decide on a 'no go' after the morning track inspection?

Paul Vincent, racing bookmaker at Luxbet, took on More Joyous last week and now he has Shocking in his sights. Vincent reckons Shocking is not suited at Caulfield , He says: 'His Caulfield record of 9 starts for 1 win is hardly inspiring...He also is conceding horses the calibre of Herculian Prince 3.5kgs which on a wet track I believe will be a bridge too far.' Vincent is offering punters $12 about Shocking, with a maximum bet of $50 until Luxbet's liability reaches $150K.

UPDATE: No sooner was it available than it vanished...Luxbet's Lay of the Day, Shocking ($12 to win the Caulfield Cup), closed just after 5pm when the $150,000 liability was reached.
