Champion jockey Jim Cassidy has his sights set on his 95th Group One win after lifting emerging colt Pressday to an authoritative win in the $250,000 Sires' Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm.

Cassidy was at his brilliant best aboard the inexperienced Pressday in Saturday's Group Two feature and has no doubt the colt can contain his manners and win next week's Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1600m).

"They went very slow and he was up running second and still pulling," Cassidy said.

"But he was very strong to the line and they all have to beat him next week.

"I would have been happy to lead today and I'll have no hesitation in leading next week if I have to."

Pressday ($2.70 fav) got himself stirred up in the enclosure but his quality shone through on the track when he pulled away near the line to score a decisive length win.

Victorian filly Jesse's Girl ($5) finished second after she was involved in a bumping duel between the winner and third placegetter Levi's Choice in the straight and trainer Peter Morgan said she would be spelled immediately and miss the TJ Smith.

Patinack Farm colt Levi's Choice ($18) did his TJ Smith claims no harm when he battled on bravely and found the line well to finish a short neck back third.

The competitive racing was enough to convince Desleigh Forster, trainer of fifth placegetter Adebisi, to protest against Jesse's Girl citing interference at the 100m but stewards were quick to dismiss the objection.

Winning trainer Chris Waller and his wife Stephanie race Pressday in partnership with long-term stable client Tony Muollo and his wife Gana.

Waller declared Pressday a certain starter in the TJ Smith providing he displays a satisfactory recovery and is confident the horse will be better off a seven-day back-up.

"He can overrace a touch but he could be lot worse than that," Waller said.

"He kicked clear and won with a bit of dominance.

"That would have taken the edge out of him and that helps young horses relax - a nice barrier draw would definitely help as well."
