Fox Hunt is set to join stablemate Jukebox Jury on a trip to Australia to contest the Melbourne Cup on November 1.

Trainer Mark Johnston confirmed "the race that stops a nation" as the target for Jukebox Jury following his victory in the Irish St Leger earlier this month, and Fox Hunt staked his claim for a place on the plane with victory in Sunday's German version.

Johnston is keen to let Fox Hunt travel Down Under - but first wants confirmation that the four-year-old will make the final field.

"Provided he gets in, he's going to go for the Melbourne Cup," the Middleham handler said.

"We are mindful that we have lots of other options like the stayers' race on Champions Day and the Breeders' Cup Marathon, and we had an issue with Eastern Aria when we took her to Melbourne and she didn't get in.

"So we need to establish if he will get in, and then he'd go to Melbourne."
