The entire Chelmsford Stakes meeting will go ahead on the Randwick course proper as planned at Randwick on Saturday.

An inspection on Monday confirmed the historic meeting, which also features the Furious Stakes and the Tramway Handicap, would be run on Randwick's famous but weather-beaten track.

"We were looking at a number of options but the meeting will be run as programmed," Australian Jockey Club racing manager Colin Tuck said.

Splitting Saturday's races between the course proper and the club's Kensington track was one consideration, according to media reports while some trainers had called for the meeting to be held at Warwick Farm.

Randwick is struggling to recover from a wet winter and officials have ordered a rail placement of up to eight metres from the true position on Saturday.

The rail will be out eight metres from the 1000-metre mark to the winning post.

It will also be out six metres for the rest of the track.

"By doing this it should ensure we have a fairly good pad of grass for George Main Stakes day (on September 25)," Tuck said.

There were 10 entries for the Group Two Chelmsford Stakes and, as expected, Chris Waller nominated his Warwick Stakes trifecta of Metal Bender, Triple Honour and Danleigh.

However the Rosehill trainer all but confirmed Danleigh as a Makybe Diva Stakes runner at Flemington, saying the sprinter-miler was "95 per cent certain" to head south with Jim Cassidy to ride.

In Danleigh's absence, Hugh Bowman goes on to Warwick Stakes winner Metal Bender with Glyn Schofield to ride Triple Honour.

Other Chelmsford entries include Purple, an eye-catching fourth in the Warwick Stakes, and the Patinack Farm representatives Count Encosta and Run For Naara.

Tim Clark may have lost the Chelmsford ride on Metal Bender but he retains the Furious Stakes mount on Parables after winning the Silver Shadow Stakes on the Darley filly.

Stablemate Divorces is entered to resume while other nominations include Ambers Waltz, Elimbari and More Strawberries.

There were 21 nominations for the Tramway Handicap, including Group One winners Dealer Principal, Empires Choice, Jessicabeel and Sniper's Bullet.

Nominations for the Chelmsford and the Furious have been extended until Tuesday.
