Samantha Miss has stormed into Cox Plate calculations with her brilliant victory in the Group Two Tea Rose Stakes at Rosehill.

But trainer Kris Lees wants to get the final leg of the four race Princess Series - the Group One Flight Stakes (1600m) - out of the way first.

Second acceptances for the Cox Plate (2040m) are on Tuesday and Lees has already taken care of that so he can focus on the Flight Stakes with the champion filly.

"I paid up for the Cox Plate yesterday but we'll get through the Flight first," Lees said.

"She's still only racing against her own age and sex and I'm fully aware that it's a different level in those big races but she deserves a go at it."

If successful in the Flight Stakes, Samantha Miss would become the first horse since Angst in 1993 to make a clean sweep of the Princess Series - the Silver Shadow (1200m), the Furious (1400m), the Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) and the Flight (1600m).

Ridden Hugh Bowman, Samantha Miss, who started the $1.95 favourite, was seventh at the 400 metres before hitting top gear in the closing stages and quickly putting the result beyond doubt.

Samantha Miss scored by 1-3/4 lengths over Kimillsy with Glowlamp a half length away third.

"We've been lucky in some respects because we've only been racing in small fields and so we've been able to keep her out of trouble and her explosive finish has got her home," Lees said.

Bowman said he was always confident Samantha Miss would be too strong despite the race not being run entirely to suit.

"They really slackened off the speed near the halfway point but around the 300 metres she was really starting to find her best and had them covered," Bowman said.

Kimillsy's trainer Kim Waugh was thrilled with the run from the Danehill Dancer filly, who led for the best part of the race and she kept her sense of humour after the race.

"It's just not fair running into horses like Samantha Miss is it?" Waugh said.

"I'm very happy with the way Kimillsy went and she'll run in the Flight now."

Lees will have to find a new jockey for the Cox Plate with Samantha Miss to carry 47.5kg in Australia's weight-for-age championship.

"I'll probably have to look at somebody like Glen Boss at that sort of weight but that's all a long way off yet," Lees said.

The Cox Plate (2040m) is at Moonee Valley on October 25.
