A year ago the pair teamed to be runners-up in three of the four International races on what is the equivalent of Melbourne Cup day for Hong Kong's thriving racing industry.

''This is the day what we gear our horses to. It is like our Melbourne Cup, Sydney autumn carnival or Japan Cup,'' Beadman said. ''Last year we had one of those days, three seconds, and we are hoping to have a little bit more luck this time around. We have horses in good form again, but they are not easy races to win and the rest of the world comes here trying to win them as well.''

Collection, which chased home Vision D'Etat in the Hong Kong Cup returns for another crack at the 2000-metre feature, as does One World in the Hong Kong Sprint after its half-length defeat by Sacred Kingdom 12 months ago, but it will be ridden by Jeff Lloyd on Sunday. Beadman is in his fourth year as stable rider for Moore in Hong Kong and their only success on International day came when Inspiration caused a shock in the Sprint.
