QUEENSLAND'S torrential rains are beginning to impact on the racing industry with leading Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan opting to bring his sprinter Ego's Dare south for firm tracks, reports The Age.

It says: Ryan confirmed yesterday that Ego's Dare would start in tomorrow's $100,000 Cleary Stakes as he decided to abort plans to run the horse in Saturday week's Magic Millions Cup on the Gold Coast.

''I've just landed on the Gold Coast and [it] looks like they've had 60 millimetres overnight, and they look like getting another inch today. The horse was targeted at the Magic Millions but it's a waste of time dragging him all the way up here only to run into a bog track,'' Ryan said. "I know the race is 10 days away but I can't see any let-up in the rain, so I'm not going to mess up his plans; that's why he's in Melbourne.''

Ryan pointed out that he had two runners at Flemington last week, Ego's Dare, who was scratched, and Ahdashim, who was successful in the Standish Handicap.
