Dwayne Dunn has picked up the one-off ride on Predatory Pricer in Saturday's Group One Turnbull Stakes after regular spring carnival jockey Steven King failed in his appeal against the severity of a careless riding suspension.

Kembla Grange trainer Paul Murray said Predatory Pricer's owners wanted Dunn to ride the entire in the Turnbull.

Hong Kong-based James Winks, who had also made himself available for the Turnbull mount on the Street Cry four-year-old, missed out but will still ride at Flemington after gaining a clearance to do so on Monday.

Murray confirmed that King would ride Predatory Pricer in both the $2.5 million Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 17 and the $3 million Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley a week later.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board (RADB) on Tuesday dismissed King's appeal against the severity only of a 13-meeting suspension for careless riding aboard Testaguy at Caulfield last Sunday.

A late application to withdraw the appeal against the suspension was accepted by the RADB.

King has ridden Predatory Pricer in his three spring runs to date for a first-up win in the Group Two JJ Liston Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield and a last-start close-up third to Heart Of Dreams in the Group One Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield.

The RADB also dismissed an appeal by South Australian jockey Dominic Tourneur against a 10-meeting careless riding suspension incurred in his winning ride on emerging galloper Alcopop in Friday night's Listed JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley.

Murray floated Predatory Pricer from his Ballarat base to Flemington on Tuesday where the big chestnut pleased him in a 1600m gallop on the course proper in 1:24 with the last 600m in 37 seconds and the final 400m in 24s.

"It was really nice work about five or so metres in from the outside fence," Murray said.

Murray said he was very happy with Predatory Pricer's third in the Underwood.

"Considering he had a cut in the mouth and he (King) had to go forward on him to let him bowl along where he wanted," he said.

"His mouth is right now and he should be able to relax where Dwayne wants him to and come with the one run the way that he usually does."

Predatory Pricer and Kiwi mare Daffodil share the second line of betting at $9 in the Caulfield Cup with TAB Sportsbet fixed odds behind the $6 favourite Vigor, while in the Cox Plate he is equal fourth pick at $9 with Whobegotyou the $3.80 favourite.
