Stablemates Rock Me Sweet and Johnnydrama will be doing their best to lift the spirits of trainer Leon Corstens when they contest the Listed Creswick Stakes at Flemington.

Corstens will watch Saturday's 1200-metres feature from his hospital bed as he awaits surgery next week but has confidence in his staff who have overseen a successful week for the stable.

Last Tuesday the team landed a treble at Geelong, then scored with Power Plant at Moonee Valley on Wednesday and Sneaky Tsu at Swan Hill on Friday.

Steven King rode three of the five winners and on Saturday will ride Rock Me Sweet while apprentice Ashley Thompson will partner Johnnydrama.

The pair is the only Corstens-trained runners at the Flemington meeting.

Foreman Gary Gibb said both three-year-olds were genuine chances in an open race headed by Canberra raider Unanimously at $6 with TAB Sportsbet, ahead of Liveandletdie ($7), Spurcific ($7) and General Truce ($7.50).

Rock Me Sweet is at $15 and Johnnydrama $35 but Gibb said both horses were capable of figuring in the finish.

"We've had a good week and it would be a very good tonic for Leon if one of his runners could win for him at Flemington," Gibb said.

"Rock Me Sweet has always shown a bit of ability and she deserves a crack at a Listed race.

"She is going very nicely and she wasn't beaten far behind Enzed Girl and Royal Bender at Flemington.

"The straight and the 1200 metres suit her."

Johnnydrama finished out of the money at his only run at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day last year but earned his spot in the Creswick on the back of his consistency this campaign.

The winner of three of 10 starts, he scored at Ballarat second-up after finishing a close fifth at Sandown in April and last start was solid behind Creswick rival Dark Valley and Cavendish when third at Geelong on June 1.

"His last run was very good and he seems to be settling more than he was earlier in his career," Gibb said.

Unanimously will be looking to keep a perfect record intact for Canberra trainer Matthew Dale whose only other Flemington runner was Jackpot Queen who was successful on May 21.

Dale said the Creswick was an appealing race for Unanimously being set weights and penalties and against his own age.

The winner of five races and placed second four times in only 12 starts, Unanimously will be ridden by Mathew Cahill.
