Macau's top galloper Luen Yat Forever is a definite Cox Plate runner after his eye-catching Aussie debut for 4th in the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield. Dwayne Dunn is booked to ride the race's only international runner. Financially, Yattie's connections are already sitting pretty - the Moonee Valley Racing Club has promised to pay $100,000 for any internationally trained horse which runs in the Cox Plate.

The order of entry for the Melbourne Cup is still a sticky situation for many top stayers, including Bart's well-fancied Precedence. Many locally-trained runners remain stranded outside the likely final field. One shock is that Precedence could earn a second penalty this spring in Sat's Moonee Valley Cup and still miss out on a Melbourne Cup start. Unless he gets himself a penalty of at least 1.5kgs, he could become the first horse to be penalised twice but still fall short.

Bart Cummings reports that Precedence is doing well. He is expected to bypass the Lexus in favor of the MV Cup. Bart says: 'He's going good. We need a bit of extra weight for the Melbourne Cup...He's bred to run in a Melbourne Cup, and his lead-up form has been good.' Stablemate So You Think needs to win or place in the Cox Plate to ensure a start in the Melbourne Cup.
